I had to put you on, baby… because DC Vegan cast a spell on me! As I wrap up my time in the DMV, this dinner is one experience I’m still thinking about. I visited with my best friend, and from the first bite to dessert, everything we tried was top-tier. Add the Halloween atmosphere and the warm hospitality, and honey, I was enchanted.

We started with the mushroom calamari, which was crispy, flavorful, and sensational. The texture was so satisfying, and with that marinara? It gave everything it was supposed to give! This was the kind of appetizer that had me excited for the rest of the meal, and I would absolutely order it again.

For our entrées, we got into the lasagna and chicken piccata. Baby, scrumptious, deluxe, just fine! Both dishes were thoroughly enjoyable and made me want to try more of the menu. It’s such a pleasure to sit down at a vegan restaurant and have this much to look forward to; an appetizer, a full dinner, dessert, and drinks, all in one evening.

Of course, we had to finish with something sweet, so we tried the chocolate cake and tres leches. Both were delicious, and neither felt like an afterthought. After everything we had already enjoyed, these desserts kept the evening going beautifully. DC Vegan, how am I supposed to leave when you keep feeding me like this?!

We also tried the Nonna cocktail and a margarita, which were such lovely additions to dinner. Between the drinks, the food, and the atmosphere, I thoroughly enjoyed settling in and sharing this experience with my friend. Everything came together in a way that made the evening feel special.

And I have to give Sophie her flowers! She went above and beyond to take care of us, and her thoughtfulness made an incredible meal even more memorable. Thank you to Heather for coordinating our visit, and to Michael, Leah, and the entire team for the hospitality. I can’t thank you all enough for making us feel so welcome.

They even have a yoga studio connected to the space; honey, the food already had me levitating! I left feeling nourished in my mind, body, and soul, and I already have reasons to return. Brunch and Fiesta Friday are on my list for the next time I’m in town.

DC Vegan was worth the wait. If you’re in Washington, DC, pull up, bring someone you enjoy spending time with, and leave room for dessert. From the crispy mushroom calamari to the hospitality, this is a place I’m excited to put you on to. 🫀
