PETA’s ThanksVegan at Kindred Spirits Care Farm — A Celebration of Compassion, Love, and Light

There are certain traditions that feel less like events and more like homecomings — and PETA’s annual ThanksVegan at Kindred Spirits Care Farm has become one of mine. This was my third year showing up for this gathering, and every time I step into this space, I feel something in me soften… open… realign. It’s something I truly look forward to every year because it reminds me why compassion is at the center of everything I do.

Kindred Spirits has this quiet, grounding energy — the kind that settles into your spirit the moment you walk through the gates. Maybe it’s the rescued animals who now get to live their lives without fear. Maybe it’s the land itself. Or maybe it’s the PETA team, who always meet me with so much intention, love, and light. Whatever it is, it’s real. And it’s sacred.

My journey with PETA has been full of moments that shaped me — from our Black History Month collaboration, to the There’s So Much Right About You, So What’s Wrong With You? campaign, to the conversations that challenged me in the best way. Every experience with them has been a memory etched into my growth. Every project has held purpose. Every connection has felt honest.

And this year, something deepened. I connected with more of the PETA family from across the country — souls who lead with heart, softness, and a real commitment to the animals they protect. Ashley, Leah, Tiani, Carly, Felice, Joel, and the rest of the PETA team… the kindness each of you have shown me stays with me. It’s rare to feel seen, respected, and welcomed the way you all continue to make me feel. That’s something I’ll never take lightly.

But above all, this gathering is about saving lives — specifically saving turkeys who deserve so much more than the traditions that have harmed them. Standing in a sanctuary where turkeys are loved, protected, and honored brings everything into perspective. We do not have to harm animals to celebrate gratitude. We do not have to sacrifice life to feel connected. A turkey-free Thanksgiving is not a compromise — it’s compassion in motion.

Seeing these animals safe and thriving is the reminder. Choosing compassion is the shift. And this community, this energy, is the proof that a kinder world is possible. If you ever want to see what that world looks like, Kindred Spirits Care Farm opens every Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM. Go. Walk the grounds. Meet the animals. Let your heart expand the way mine does every time I’m there.

My heart is full — full from the conversations, the laughter, the quiet moments, and the intention in every corner of this space. Full from the people. Full from the love. Full from the light.

Thank you, PETA, for welcoming me into a family built on compassion. Thank you for trusting me, for working with me, and for showing the world that Thanksgiving can be a celebration without cruelty. And thank you for reminding me — year after year — that choosing compassion is choosing alignment.

This year, and every year, I choose life. I choose love. I choose a turkey-free Thanksgiving. 🫀

Until next time.
